A look at Prenatal Education

We often hear that prenatal education helps with the baby's development and that often includes playing classical music and reading out-aloud / talking to the baby regularly. Some parents even have a set curriculm.

My version of prenatal education for Caitlyn includes :

1) Gossip Girl, Gilmore Girls and Korean Drama (谁来爱我) are the regular TV series we follow quite religiously. They are like your usual chick flicks, nothing heavy.

To supplement that with some intellectually packed TV, there's the occasional channel switch to CNN which has updates on wars, the depressed economy, swine flu and Obama...not so exciting.

2) BabyPlus - highly recommended by my friends Laura & Jacques, they have 2 lovely daughters.

3) Music - whatever's playing on the radio when i'm in the car or I'll just pop in a CD that i feel like listening to at home; no particular genre.

Pictures tell a thousand words, from the list above, the obvious favorite is TV, the most entertaining and enjoyable for both myself and Eric, probably of little value towards prenatal education for Caitlyn. But that's alright, as the old saying goes "When Mummy's happy, Baby's happy too!" :)

Time to watch some TV now!

34 Weeks!

34 Weeks into the Pregnancy and 15 kgs heavier!?!? How time flies!

Doesn't seem like too long ago when the pregnancy was confirmed at the end of October 2008.

We gave our little one a nickname "Dupree" - inspired from the show "You, Me and Dupree". The nickname lasted for a while till we decided on the name Caitlyn.

11 June 2009 is the expected due date, which is about 6 weeks away. Being first-time-parents to be, things are under control for the time being, no panicking yet. Hopefully things will stay that way after Caitlyn's born.

From our list of to-dos, here are some of the completed items!
1) Hired confinement nanny for 2 months
2) Ordered crib and stroller
3) Cleared out wardrobe to make way for Caitlyn's stuff
4) Washed Caitlyn's clothes, towels, bibs, mittens, booties (at least she will be dressed in clean, nice smelling clothes!)

Gotta keep working on the to-do list to check off more items. I think I work best under time pressure.

We bought a few parenting books, which I occasionally browse through to "educate" myself on this totally new experience. Here comes the textbook mom!

I have been blessed with a smooth pregnancy so far, and we are extremely thankful. Of course, there are the aches, pains, sleepless nights, countless trips to the bathroom, and enormous weight gain but can't complain otherwise.

Enough of the chatter, below are pictures we took over the last couple of months.
